Family of Daniel HOLMES

DANIEL HOLMES was born about 1831 in New York state, and died after 1880. He was a farmer. Many sources give HOMES as the spelling of the surname, but family tradition holds that some members had a falling out over religion and adopted different spellings.

He married ELIZA HAYCOCK about 1853. She was born in 1833 in ENGLAND, and died after 1880.

  1. JULIA ANN HOLMES, b. 1853, Illinois; d. after 1870.

  2. LUCY E. HOLMES, b. 1861, Wisconsin; d. after 1870.

  3. HATTIE L. HOLMES, b. about 1864, Wisconsin; d. after 1880.

  4. EVERETT J. HOLMES, b. about 1865, Wisconsin; d. after 1910. Adopted the HOMES variant of the surname. Married about 1893 and settled in Sherman, Clark co., Wisc.

  5. ARTHUR GRANT HOLMES, b. about 1868, Wisconsin; d. after 1900. He married a Hilda LINDNER and settled in Loyal, Clark co., Wisconsin. He adopted the HOMES variant of the family surname.

  6. MINNIA E. HOLMES, b. about 1872, Wisconsin; d. after 1880.

  7. RALPH L. HOLMES, b. about 1875, Wisconsin; d. after 1906.

  8. GUY RAY HOLMES, b. about 1877, Clark, Wisconsin; d. after 1903.
