Family of John DYE

JOHN DYE (WILLIAM) was christened on 28 Sep 1794 in Leverington, Cambridge, ENGLAND, and died between 1871 and 1881, probably in Leverington. He married HARRIET MOULTON on 3 Mar 1840 in West Walton, Norfolk, ENGLAND, daughter of JOHN MOULTON and ELIZABETH MOUNTAIN. It would appear that Harriet left John around 1855, taking the younger children, and married(?) another man named WILLIAM DYE(R) and settled in the Deptford, Kent, area. Another theory is that they adopted the name for personal reasons.

Note for JOHN DYE:
From 1829 thru 1868, John DYE is recorded in the Leverington, Cambridge, church records (film 1040580). On 22 Oct. 1830, he was one of the signators on a petition to the House of Commons to abolish slavery.
