Will of Richard Stallings made Apr 9, 1703

        In the name of God amen, Richard Sterlings of Calvert Co., in the province of Maryland being sick and weak of body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, praise be therefore given unto Almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. That is to say first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, Hopeing through the merrits of death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life. And my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named. And as touching the disposition of all such temporale Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose as followeth; First I will that my debts and funeral charges be fully paid and satisfied. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son John Stallings 250 acres of land called by the name of Stallings lot to him and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Richard Stallings a parcell of land containing 350 acres called by the name of Thatchum to him and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten. I also give unto my son Richard one negroe boy named Doy to be delivered unto him at my decease, and I also give unto my son Richard one third part of my orchard during the space of three years. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Jacob Stallings all that parcell of land called by the name of 'Brook Neck' containing 150 acres and also one other parcell of land bought of Henry Cox called The Meadows containing one hundred and eighty and six acres to him and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten. I also give unto my son Jacob one negroe boy named Ego, and one feather bed and furniture (viz) one rug, one pair blankitts, one bolster and pillow, and curtains and vallings and one flock bed and furniture which said bedding he now hath in his possession and two cows and calves all which things is to be delivered at my decease. And I also give my son Jacob one third part of my orchard upon my now dwelling Plantation during the space of three years and my will is also that my son Jacob Stalling be at age to enjoy his estate at my decease. I further declare that my will is that my above sons should dye without issue that then the aforesaid land that I have given unto them shall be equally divided between the survivng brothers. I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Eliz Deall or her heirs the sum of one hundred pounds lawful money of England to be paid upon the abovesaid Eliz. within twelve months after my decease and I also give unto the said Eliz one feather bed and furniture, viz; one rug, one pair of blankitts and bolter two pillows, one pair of curtains and vallings and one pair of Holland sheets, which said bed and furiture to be delivered upon demand after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Sarah Stallings the sum of 20 pounds of lawful money of England to be paid within twelve months after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my two grandsons, Henry Stallings and Rich. Stallings ten pounds of lawful money of England, a piece to be paid within twelve months after my decease to my aforesaid son Richard Stallings for the use of the abovesaid children. I give and bequeath unto my five grandchildren Rich. Deall, Eliz. Deall, Sarah Deall, Wm. Deall, James Deall the sum of ten pounds sterling lawful money of England a piece and to be laid out on two negro women and to be delivered to Wm. Deall and them and their increase to remain in his had for the use of the above named children and to be delivered within twelve months after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Christian Stalling the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto M. Tho. Stalling within twelve months after my decease to buy the said Christian a piece of plale, all the rest and residue of my estate, goods and chatles whatsoever I do give and bequeath unto my loving sons John Stallings, Rich. Stallings and Jacob Stallings full and sole Exec. of this my last will and testiment and I desire that my body may be buried in the earth and I hereby revoak, disanule and make void all former wills and test. by me. Made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Ninth day of April, 1703.
