May died in 1917 and is buried in the Stanley Cemetery. Her family was raised in VA now West VA, and the generations later thought that she had died. MONROE, MORGAN
Posted on Oct 11, 2002 by Lavone Cook PoulosI am looking for info on William Monroe and Nancy Morgan Monroe. They were in Napa County about 1850 and moved to Sonoma County later. They happened to be one of the families that was given a land grant by General Vallejo only to have it taken away in the following years (abt 1860?). William Monroe died in Calistoga in 1889 and Nancy Morgan Monroe died in 1914 in Sebastopol. They had eight children, one of which was my great-grandmother Martha Monroe.
I am trying to find the ancestors of William and Nancy. I have their death notices but William's parents are not identified. Nancy's parents were William Morgan AND Betsy Sebring Morgan. In family notes it is said that Martha's parents came across with the second crossing of the Oregon Trail in 1846. That would mean that the Morgans and William Monroe both came on the same wagon train. Nancy was born in 1834 so she would have been 12 years old in 1846. Too young to have been married to William Monroe.
If anyone has something that tells of William Monroe'S birthplace in Missouri, or William and Betsy Morgan's whereabouts in either Napa County or Sonoma County after 1850, I would be most appreciative. Thanks, Lavone Cook Poulos
AGNELLO, RYAN
Posted on Oct 12, 2002 by Joan MeyerSearching for Francesca Agnello-Ryan, who I believe is still living. Information that I have – Living at 2645 Meier Road, Sebastopol CA in about 1984. She was married to Thomas Ryan. Believed to be divorced as on her father’s (Joseph Agnello) death certificate, January 31, 1989, she is shown as the informant and the name given was Agnello. The address was a P.O. Box in Sebastopol. She was on the faculty of a university at one time and I had tried contacting the Sonoma State Univ. but they refused to give me the information if she was on the faculty there. Some sources that I thought I could check were: Voters Registration, Divorce records 1984-1989, Faculty roster of SSU and the current phone directory. (Internet directories showed nothing but they are not always accurate, or up-to-date). Is it possible for you to search one of those sources for me? Thank you for any assistance you may be able to give me. Joan Meyer, Iron River, MI

FERGUSON, FLETCHER, MCLOUD
Posted on Jun 6, 2003 by Grant FergusonI am Grant Ferguson from Bruce Co. Ontario, Canada. My Ferguson family moved to Ashfield Twp., Huron Co. around 1855 from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. Donald and Anne Ferguson were my gr.gr.grandparents. We always thought they had one child, but I have found four more children. Anne died in 1867 and is buried in here in Ashfield Twp. and Donald was suppose to be buried here to, but I am now thinking he was buried in California.
His daughter Sarah married Duncan Fletcher and they had the following children here, Alexander born 1865, Archibald born 1867 and John born 1871. With the help of the 1880 Census at familysearch.org , I have found this family, I believe at Salt Point, Sonoma Co. California. I am having trouble finding out where Salt Point is, if it is a township.
Also another daughter Mary Ferguson married Malcolm McLoud here and I think I found them in Salt Point, Sonoma Co. as well. On the 1880 Census their name was spelt Mc Cloud and also father-in-law Donald Furgeson, 80 years old was on the Census with them.
I really believe these people are our lost ancestors as there birthplaces match, being Nova Scotia, Canada for Sarah Fletcher and Mary McLoud. I would appreciate any help in finding out if the families stayed in Sonoma Co., and knowing where Salt Point in the 1880 Census is. Thanks for your time. Grant Ferguson, ferguson@hurontel.on.ca

FOSS
Posted on Oct 18, 2003 by Adrian EllisI am interested in getting in touch with someone in Sonoma Co. who is into genealogy as I am keen to try to find out something more about an ancestor who was there in 1870. Since I go to the Public Record Office in Kew. U.K. and The Family Record Centre in London. U.K. from time to time, I would be willing in return to try to help with some U.K. queries.
My great grand-father Samuel Beart Foss is to be seen on the U.S.1870 Census at Salt Point aged 30. With him is Frederick Foss aged 21, also at Salt Point, who is almost certainly his brother. Whilst I know when Samuel was back in the U.K., I know nothing further about Frederick. All the written records I have suggest that the family didn’t know either. He may have simply gone missing, perhaps killed, and no one ever knew. Are there any records of persons missing or was this post gold rush area totally lawless?
To return to Samuel, are there any records which might show what he was doing in California? He had come to California in about 1857 and there is a family tradition that he had gone on horseback to Petaluma in the fall of 1860 to vote for Abraham Lincoln, but I don’t know if this could possibly be true, as he was an Englishman. I would be very pleased if someone could point me in the right direction.

MILLER
Posted on Feb 18, 2005 by Tim WanzerI am looking for anything on Valentine and Catherine Miller. I have a lot so far but every little bit helps. Valentine And Catherine occupied the Healdsburg, Ca. area around 1847 and died in the County, both one year apart 1873-1874. Valentine "Felta" Miller as he was called has a creek and a road named after him in the Healdsburg area.(Felta Creek, Felta Road). He had property out on Mill Creek, I think it was the March mill property prior. He was one of the earliest wine makers in the area. He was also tied to other liquor beverages. He had brought the makings for making liquor across the country starting out In N.C. all the way to Ca. That's just a little bit of what I have found so far but now I'm focusing more on the family of Valentine brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren etc. I think that's where I need the most help. Anything would be much appreciated. Thank you

HUNT
Posted on Oct 26, 2007 by Bob BallengerIn some of the reading I've been doing about early Sebastopol, there is reference to the brothers Joseph and William Hunt who started a cannery in Santa Rosa. In some of the documents I've seen, it appears that their first canning experiences were on their Father's farm near Sebastopol. My parents live on a section of land contained within the boundaries of what was in 1877 land owned by B. W. Hunt. Can anyone tell me if this would be the farm referred to? Or if B. W. Hunt is indeed their father? Thanks, Bob
