Lucy (Peace) Lemay
The Raleigh Register, Oct 20, 1835
contributed by Debra McCann

Died in Granville County on the 7th ult. after a lingering and painful illness which she bore with Christian fortitude and resignation, Mrs. Lucy Lemay, relict of Lewis Lemay, aged about 65 years. She had for many years exemplified, in her deportment, the excellency of Christianity; and although in great bodily pain at the last, most trying moment, her mind was firmly stayed upon the promise of the gospel, cloudless and happy. She was in life much beloved by her most intimate friends and relatives, by all respected, and in death, by all greatly lamented.

Noble Alexander Pool
contributed by Betty Pool Rose

The following is found on page 283 of Volume I, Your Roots and Mine, a compilation of newspaper columns written by Mr. M. F. Willard, of Moffett, Halifax Co., VA and which were published in South Boston area newspapers.

From the letter of our Noblin correspondent which was received too late for publication last week, we make the following extracts:

“Mr. Lex Pool, near Buchanan, in the county, died a few days ago, very suddenly. He was taken with a peculiar illness and died almost immediately. I learn, he was taken with a swelling in the face which proceeded downward, and as soon as it reached his body he died right off. I do not know of any man whom I esteemed more highly or believe was a better man and christian than Mr. Pool. He was a consistent pious member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church, and was prepared for the change. God grant that we may meet him in Heaven with his several honorable sons and daughters.”
