COCKE, GOODE
Posted on Dec 29, 2004 by June Dee

I believe that my grandfather and grandmother probably died in McCurtain County. Martha Jefferson Goode lived with her brother James R. Goode after her husband James Alexander Cocke's death. They are on the 1930 Census for Oklahoma, McCurtain County, Kirk Township. She was listed as Jeff or Jeffie, a boarder and a male. Jeffie and Matte were nicknames she used in earlier censuses. Her brother James R. Goode was arrested for killing a young man who worked for him on the farm. Would like to find out what the court records show for this awful happening. These two families were from MS, Tate County, area. James R. Goode and wife Annie are believed to have moved there first with James Alexander Cocke and wife Martha Jefferson Goode arriving later, as they are on the 1920 Census for Arkansas, Ouachita County, Layfette Township. Thanks, June Dee
