"WEEK END TINS"
1918
The large size packaging of choice for many of America's early tobacco manufactures was the 'casket' style metal cigarette container with a glued on paper label. The blue federal tax stamp affixed to most of these tins was the long wrap-around type similar to those found on cigar boxes. The Stephano Bros. of Philadelphia advertised their Rameses as "The Aristocrat of Cigarettes," and the big tins the perfect size for those getaway weekends in the country.
A special thank you to my friend Jack Tillmany for helping to make this page possible.
