THE ZIRA GIRLS
1911---1912
The cash coupon included with each five cent box of Zira cigarettes was redeemable for one half cent. Twenty-five coupons could also be redeemed for one set of silk novelties. Pictured below is an example that featured the comical Zira Girls. This set had the different girls bemoaning the loss of a friend who had found herself smoked and discarded. Newspapers were used to promote The Zira Girls silks, and one 1912 ad used this limerick: "Three little Zira girls near the ocean blue, one met a man of war, then there were two."
