A WORLD CHAMPION
1889---1890

The handsome N43 The World's Champions (second series) set of 50 cards were issued in 1889 or 1890. These colorful cards are over three inchs wide. They were inserted into Richmond St. Cut clam-shell boxes of twenty cigarettes, instead of the smaller slide and shell packet. This bigger size allowed room for the artist to paint a colorful background scene of the sport that the champ participated in. The six N43 baseball cards are the most sought after in this set.

A special thank you to baseball card collector Jon Canfield of New York for sharing his beautiful N43 baseball card.
