THE STANDARD BRANDS
1913---1950

With a combination of Bright and Burley, plus a smattering of Turkish tobacco, new Camel cigarettes introduced America to the 'modern blend', a revolutionary new taste. Chesterfield and Lucky Strike quickly followed suit, establishing the 'standard brand' era. "Lucky Strike Green has Gone to War," "Call for Philip Morris," and "They Satisfy" became advertising battle cries heard incessantly over the radio waves, or seen in national magazines.
