CHIEFS, OL' SMOOTHIE, AND OTHER COLORFUL BRANDS
1984---2004
In the 20 years that Robert A. Gordon (R.A.G.) of Benton, Pennsylvania has been making cigarettes, his sales have run the gamut from exports to the orient, to cigarettes made for Indian reservations, private labels, novelty, and now Thunder Bay Little Cigars. Bob Gordon and his two sons, plus four factory employees and a sales associate, produce the smokes on two cigarette making machines. Tobacco is bought from a North Carolina wholesaler who's responsibility is to blend the different types, percentages, and crops of fine tobacco that Mr. Gordon uses. This blended tobacco is then trucked to Benton where it is made into high quality cigarettes sporting colorful label graphics and quaint brandnames. Pictured below are some of my favorite R.A.G. packs, including Not Guilty, which was made for the O. J. Simpson trial, and Porphkrs (you sound it out) that was a private label made for a small chain of North Carolina stores. Passport International and new Passport International Gold 100's are the brands that my friend John Everette sells. Incidentally, the six maritime signal flags pictured on the Signals packet do indeed spell out signal.
I want to thank my long time friend John Everette of Pennsylvania for sharing his cigarette packs and R.A.G. company knowledge. Thanks John! I think that the Chiefs pack is an especially nice design. If you are interested in a closer look, click on the Chiefs pack.
