THE DUKE OF YORK CIGARETTE
1895---ca. WWI
The different straight-Turkish tobacco cigarette brands that The Khedivial Company produced competed with those made by James Duke's giant American Tobacco Company trust. Khedivial advertised their Duke of York Cigarettes with a handsome lithographed advertising tray picturing England's royal son, plus three sets of free insert cards. These insert cards are circa 1910--12, and are titled T28--Aeroplane series, T96--Prize Dog series, plus a set of twenty-five cards picturing boxers titled Prize Fight Series No. 101.
The handsome, and very, very rare metal advertising tray is from the Roger Hordines Collection.
