FLOWER OF THE NILE
ca. 1889

The wonderful graphics used for Egyptian Cleopatra Flowers pictures a lone felucca with a billowing lateen sail making its way up the Nile river. These small sailboats carry cargo, and presumably the one pictured has a load of rare Yenidge (Yenidje) tobacco bound for Cairo. This exquisite Turkish or Oriental tobacco was grown in the Thrace district of Greece for export to Egypt, the United States, and other cigarette producing countries. Tobacconists then blended the aromatic Yenidge into Egyptian style cigarettes of unsurpassed quality for smoking connoisseurs worldwide.
