OLD GOLD SUPPORTS TWO FOR THE MONEY
1952---1957

Game and variety shows were a very popular staple of early television. NBC's Two for the Money was a game program sponsored by Old Gold Cigarettes and hosted by Herb Shriner and Dennis James. Commercials were filmed live, and featured the Old Gold dancing cigarette packs. Petite Dixie Dunbar of 20th Century Fox musical film fame was underneath the 70mm regular box. Gloria Vestoff's long legs were seen below the king size Old Gold pack. When Dixie and Gloria finished their prancing around on stage, they crossed their legs and bowed. One of the big cigarettes at the top of each costume was then extended toward the audience--truly a Surgeon General's nightmare.
