A SATISYING GIFT
1936---1937
Each of the major cigarette makers promoted their flat and round 50 tins as Christmas presents. Occasionally, they also published a non-holiday season ad like the one pictured below middle. Two 1930's booklets that taught card players how to play a better game of bridge, also featured the splendid Chesterfield tins. Advertising seems to suggest that either style of these larger 50's containers would have made an outstanding bridge party prize. Incidentally, Chesterfield round 50's made during the 1920's used a paper label wrapped around a can, while those produced during the 1930's and 40's were lithographed metal like the one pictured.
