1890s
During the 1890's nautical ladies with great sea legs helped point smokers toward Admiral Cigarettes. Saucy young women were decked out as gunners mates, able bodied sailors, and up in the rigging ready to repel all boarders. These comely Victorian women were anything but, salty dogs. The colorful Admiral advertising cards were used as ceiling hangers or placed in a tobacconist's showroom window.
